Available Mares (click to preview)

There are times when you have a stallion service nomination but you don’t have the mare to use it on. Come and have a chat with us at Bombora Downs as we often have mares available on a yearly lease basis with no upfront costs. These mares are sourced from our own broodmare band or from clients who may not wish to breed this year. The pedigrees of the mares are varied so we are sure we can find one that will meet your requirements. Please have a look at the current list and give the Stud Office a call to discuss your requirements.

Conditions of Lease

The mare needs to remain at Bombora Downs for the duration of the Lease, except when being served. The Leasee will be responsible for:

  • all veterinary costs regarding the mare getting into foal, plus any transport and walk-on fees to the stallion of choice
  • all day to day husbandry costs for the mare plus resulting foal including treatments
  • all vet costs associated with the foal.

Any extra-ordinary costs for example, colic surgery on the mare, will be met by the owner of the mare. The mare must be made available to the owner in the next breeding season for her to be served unless otherwise agreed. The lease will remain in place until the resultant foal is weaned.
