Melbourne Yearling Sales Over for another Year

Bombora Downs has had a busy time at the 2017 Inglis Melbourne Yearling Sales, hitting some new highs.

At the Premier Sale, we presented 6 lots, 5 colts and a filly. 201704aNewsPic1The highest priced lot was a bay colt by Written Tycoon from the Spartacus mare, Hot Spa. The Written Tycoons were in demand again, and our boy had the looks to impress, proving very popular during parade times. He sold to Aquis / Blue Sky Bloodstock Pty Ltd for $350,000, an excellent result for our vendor.

Session 1 - 2 lots offered, both sold for an average of $195,000 (sale average $120,262)

Session 2 - 4 lots offered, for 3 sold at an average of $48,333 (sale average $43,026)

At the VOBIS Gold Sale, we presented 7 lots, 4 colts and 3 fillies. Our draft included the first Jungle Ruler and Polanski progeny for sale.

Our top lot was a chestnut colt by Turffontein from the Testa Rossa mare, Acid Test. He also proved popular during parade times and sold for $68,000 to Robert Smerdon at Aquanita racing. This was the 5th highest lot for the sale.

Now that the sales are over, no feet up and sitting by the fire. Over the coming months, weaning needs to be done with the handling of our future champions to be completed. While the yearlings, will need to be broken in.

And of course, the upcoming breeding season will be on us all too soon.
