A Great Season Continues in November

The 2020 breeding season is going well, and the end might be in sight!

Foaling202011Newsa

We have had thirty-two arrive in November, so we’ve made it to one hundred for the season, with two to go. And what’s more; sex balanced to boot, with fifty colts and fifty fillies. Mainly thoroughbreds with a smattering of Standard Breds, Warmbloods and a couple of Gypsy Cobs. Keep up to date either on Facebook or the Bombora Downs 2020 Foal Gallery for all the arrivals.

Breeding

Bombora Downs is having a tremendous year for getting mares in foal. We have had a fairly high percentage of mares go in foal on the first cover. There will always be a couple of “late to the parties” but most are coming good on their second or third covers. A good ending to a challenging year.

Yearling Sales

Never a dull moment in this industry. Just as the foaling down and breeding is winding down, around comes the yearling sale season. We have 8 to present at the 2021 INGLIS Melbourne Premier from 28th February to 2nd March the boys and girls will be coming in during December to ease into the preparation for the sale. The INGLIS Gold Sale has been rescheduled to 16th May for one day only. We have a few already entered for that sale.

Stallion Update

Another WINNER for Warhorse (NZ) and a few “nearly” placings during November. His progeny are doing well as older horses.

Dandino (GB) had a city place getter during the month and if Tarantello had had any luck she would have gone very close to being his first winner. Onwards and upwards for Dandino’s progeny.

Jungle Ruler is still having his winners and place getters. He now has two $100K earners so is a good bread and butter sire of tough, sound horses.

Bed For Tails

Holidays are back in vogue so our dog bookings at Beds For Tails are coming along. The Christmas / New Year period is fully booked with very few openings left during January. The new entry gates have been installed with the makings of the new dog run in the pipeline. The horse paddocks are slowly taking shape but more on that in the new year.

And from everybody at Bombora Downs we wish all our clients
